Coventry Christmas Events 2018

Coventry Christmas Events

Christmas seems to start earlier and earlier each year – the ‘Back to school’ displays in September were replaced with racks of Christmas cards and stocking fillers… that was a little too early for us, but come the middle of November and everyone is ready to get into the swing of things. Luckily for us, from mid-November til Santa descending down those chimneys on 24 December, you’ll find many events happening across the city of Coventry.

Here’s a few to whet your appetite…

Coventry Christmas Events

Who doesn’t love a Craft market? Not to brag, but we have one set within the grounds of our Cathedral! On 17 November the Craft & Flea market will host stalls of vintage and collectables, local produce and food and drink… perfect for stocking fillers and getting a bit festive.

The switching on of the Christmas lights ceremony in the city centre really marks the ‘beginning’ of the Christmas season. This year the switch-on ceremony is 21 November, and last year’s X-Factor winners Rak-Su will be kicking off the festivities. Nothing like some Christmas lights and some music to get everyone going!

There are more markets and fairs taking place, for example, The British Motor Museum hosts a Festive Antique and Gift Fair on 24/25 November. Promising gifts, decorations, festive food and quirkiness, there should be items to suit all tastes and budgets.

You can ride the Santa Express at Copsewood Miniature Railway on 8-9 December; catch a retelling of A Christmas Carol at the Albany Theatre; join the Draycote Water Santa Dash on 16 December (any exercise is good at this time of year!).

Returning to Coventry Cathedral on 15 December, an Evening Christmas Concert or Aled Jones hosting a Guide Dogs Christmas Wishes Concert on the 17th is just the ticket to get any last bah humbugs out of your system and really into the Christmas mood.

This truly is just a taste of some of the Christmas events taking place in Coventry this year. One final pick – Stepback to the 80’s Christmas Concert at the Ricoh Arena on 22 December, We Close Our Eyes and can’t wait for the Gold top tunes that night!

Lots of great events in Coventry to get you in the festive mood.
